Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT

 

Based on the Mercedes-Benz Mclaren SLR, the 722 GT is a track day car developed by Ray Mallock Ltd (RML).

 

With a tight timeline for tooling, a prototype vehicle was scanned generating the rough surface data. Working from the data, Bee Automotive designed the exterior bodyshell, reviewing panel gapping and flushness, and engineered split lines minimising post moulding operations. Using the panel data, Bee Automotive developed the tooling patterns for composite tooling manufacture.

 

The project was successful, panel data was delivered on time and accurate tools produced. Requiring minimal adjustment and finishing, the composite panels easily assembled to the vehicle.
